Dive Bahamas Team Very Active in Bahamas Coastal Awareness Month

The islands of the Bahamas recently promoted Coastal Awareness Month. The diving professionals and staff at Stuart Cove's Dive Bahamas were very involved on many different levels.

Among the many activities that the operation was involved with included tours and programs for local schools and students, multiple clean-up efforts both in the water and on shore, and joint projects with the United States Coast Guard and Royal Bahamas Defense Force. The goal of all these activities was to make Bahamian waters cleaner and create long-term positive results for future residents and guests.

Stuart Cove's Dive Bahamas is the leading dive and watersports operator in the Bahamas. According to Stuart, the company takes its leadership role very seriously. "It's our job to help teach young people about the aquatic environment. Our actions today can have both a positive or a negative effect on the waters we dive in every day. We are responsible for teaching the next generation how to preserve and protect the environment for the future."

Cove said that dozens of local school children attended entertaining and informative presentations led by Dive Bahamas staff. After learning about their local waters, the students were then taken by boat to local snorkeling spots to experience the marine environment first-hand.

During the joint program with the US Coast Guard and Royal Bahamas Defense Force, more than four full trailers of garbage (including cans, bottles, car parts, tires and other refuse) was collected from Nassau Harbour.
