The Big Island's black volcanic reefs are home to colorful lionfish, Spanish dancer nudibranchs, turtles, spinner dolphins and majestic manta rays. Lava tubes, bommies, arches and huge craters create a spectacular backdrop for Hawaii's many indigenous species of butterflyfish. Here you may encounter the rare longnose hawkfish, which hides among the black coral.
