Want to be a part of a potential Guinness World Record scuba dive? Rally your friends together and join the dive community in Deerfield Beach, Florida, on June 16.
WHAT:
Divers from across the state of Florida and around the world are coming together in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest human chain underwater. A judge from Guinness World Records will be present to make the record official during the event. Participating divers will also join forces in an underwater cleanup of the Deerfield Beach Pier.
WHO:
More than 400 divers are expected to take part in the record attempt. Hosted by Dixie Divers, a PADI® Five Star Instructor Development Center, the event brings together the local and international dive communities. Dozens of teams including dive centers, clubs, university groups and members of the dive industry will be participating. All certified divers, whether new to diving or highly experienced, are invited to register as links in the human chain. Non-divers are encouraged to get involved as volunteers or to take the PADI Open Water Diver course prior to the event to join in the underwater activities. All participants will receive a moisture-wicking long sleeve UV shirt and a certificate of world record attempt participation.

WHY:
The event is organized to celebrate the dive community and bring together divers who share a passion for adventure and love for the ocean. The current record for longest human chain underwater is 308 divers and was achieved in Cesenatico, Italy, in May 2017. Attempting to break this record will literally unify 400 divers and, in doing so, strengthen and support the dive community. The pier, which is normally closed to divers because of fishing and supports an abundance of marine life, will get a cleanup by the participating divers.
