The History of Diving Museum The Story of Man's Quest to Explore Under the Sea

Islamorada, FL - Join us at the museum for a viewing of the new television show Treasure Divers, featuring local favorites Carl "Fizz" Fismer and Captain Gary Mace. The Treasure Divers series recently aired in the northern and Midwest markets and on the Dish network. The Treasure Divers series follows the exploits of renowned treasure diver, Carl "Fizz" Fismer and Captain Gary Mace of Conch Republic Divers in Tavernier. Fismer learned the business from the late, great Art "Silver Bar" McKee who discovered the 1733 Spanish Plate Fleet during the dawn of modern day treasure salvage. In the 1733 Challenge episode, Fizz visits the museum and explores various shipwrecks from the golden age of the Spanish Main. For over 300 years the Spanish treasure fleets sailed by the island chain of the Florida Keys and many galleons were lost to hurricanes. Most of the episodes were filmed in the Upper Keys; drawing awareness to the area as a cultural heritage destination for divers. Captain Fizz and Captain Gary Mace will be on hand to discuss the project and answer your questions. SUNSET CINEMA is a monthly (last Saturday of the month) community program open to the public. The Sunset Cinema features will be relevant diving topics including movies from popular culture and documentaries. Upcoming features will include: The Guererro Project, The SS Republic 1853-1865 Beneath the 12 Mile Reef, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Wake of the Red Witch....and more!
