IST’s JT-50D tec BC is a rugged, modular system designed for twin-tank scuba diving. ScubaLab’s test rig came with a stainless-steel back-plate, deluxe harness, back pad, weight pockets, 50lb-lift air cell and a set of twin-tank bands. ScubaLab found the JT-50D to be comfortable as well as functional. The deluxe harness’ contoured shoulders, with their adjustable quick-release buckles, work together with the sternum and crotch straps to create an ultra-snug fit. And, the back-plate has flared lower corners for relief in the kidney areas. The air cell is made of super-strong ballistic nylon to resist damage and has a replaceable heavy-duty inner cell. It’s circular, so it eliminates gas-trapping. The air cell is also available in the JT-30 model, a single-tank, 30-pound lift design. With a sensitive inflator, an efficient valve system, and convenient weight pouches, the BC proved to be stable at depth.
