Weeki Wachee Warrior Challenge
Formula H2O Racing returned to Weeki Wachee Springs State Park for the third annual Weeki Wachee Warrior Challenge in September.
The three-day event provided scuba training and featured four underwater races for competing veterans, who incorporated scuba techniques while riding aboard DPVs. Each challenge was specifically created for veterans injured while serving the Special Forces of the United States armed forces. The event served as an important fundraiser for the non-profit organization SOF Bionic Warriors, which provides assistance to wounded veterans and families of U.S. Special Operations forces and assists in the rehabilitation of Wounded Warriors through adaptive sports programs. The Wreck Racing League worked with SOF Bionic Warriors with the project, and Veterans Ocean Adventures provided specialized assistance to the participating veterans.
The fourth annual Weeki Wachee Warrior Challenge is scheduled for September 19-21, 2014.
