As part of its Dive Into History event series, the History of Diving Museum will celebrate the cultural and technological legacy of Jules Verne from Feb. 7 to Feb. 9.

The event will begin with a movie night honoring the 60th anniversary of the release of Disney's definitive version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. The movie night is free to the public.

The centerpiece of the event is the Jules Verne Birthday Social on February 8 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. This event will serve as the reception for the grand re-opening of the Museum's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea exhibit and will celebrate Jules Verne's 186th birthday with food, fun, live music and prizes. Victorian and steampunk costumes are encouraged — or come as your favorite nautical character, sea captain or mermaid! A prize will be awarded for the best costume. Admission is $20, $10 for members. All proceeds benefit the Museum's educational outreach.

Sunday will be a full day of educational family fun exploring the inventions and innovations of the 19th and early 20th centuries with a special emphasis on their influence on the Florida Keys. From lighthouses to railroads and, of course, diving, come experience interactive exhibits and live demonstrations at the Victorian Technology Faire from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For one day only, admission will be reduced to Victorian Age pricing: $1 for adults, 50 cents for children!
