Winner of Best Overall Resort in the Caribbean and Atlantic region, CocoView, on Roatan, one of the Bay Islands of Honduras, stands out among the competition for delivering an outstanding diving getaway.

This is the third year in a row that this 30-room resort has won this top honor, acknowledging its friendly and knowledgeable dive staff, clean rooms, choice oceanfront location as well as 24/7 shore diving on the house reef. CocoView also won top honors for Quality of Staff and Value of Resort.

Shore diving is unlimited, so guests can gear up on the beach and follow the path through sea grass beds to the 165-foot Prince Albert wreck, home of reef squid, eels, peacock flounder and more. From here, divers have the option of turning left or right. Both directions lead to walls plummeting 115 feet and beyond.

CocoView excels in providing the best possible underwater experience. The custom-designed fleet of dive boats includes “moon wells” that allow guests to reenter the boats through an opening in the center of the hull that protects from uncomfortable rocking sensations.

CocoView also enjoys its own private island. It’s for guests only—no cruise-shippers.

Dockside Dive Center, a full-service PADI Five Star dive store located on site, which itself garnered two Readers Choice awards, including first place for Quality of Rental Gear, offers a full line of well-maintained rental gear and equipment repair. Dockside also offers PADI certifications, including a popular Divemaster internship program. This iconic dive shop is known for its small class sizes and flexible course scheduling.

CocoView is also known for its dedicated dive staff, many of whom have been with the resort for 25 years or more.

On-site photo pro Mickey Charteris literally wrote the book on fish identification—it’s called Caribbean Reef Life. Charteris will be leading free photo workshops in December 2022, and September and December 2023. These workshops include daily instructional presentations and one-on-one time with Charteris, whether you want to learn to shoot macro or make better use of strobe lighting. He also joins guests on dives throughout the week.

Regardless of what time of year you visit, you’ll find that the biggest reason these all-inclusive sees so many repeat guests is the vibe. Just ask the 1,700 members of the CocoNut Club, all of whom have stayed at the resort five or more times. This group has its own Facebook page, CocoView Divers, to talk all things Roatan, including who’s going to be at the resort when, and what recent dive conditions have been like.

You’ll experience the friendly, chill vibe everywhere on property, from the oceanside hammocks to the full bar serving pina coladas, mudslides and rum-and-Coke cocktails. Free resort wide Wi-Fi gives guests the option to stay connected or unplug. Nightly music inspires dancing, and daily happy-hour appetizers make for easy socializing, leading to games of pool, darts, or any of the other clubhouse games.
