Philippe Cousteau Jr. Once Again Shows Lighter Side in Second Season of "The Aquatic World"

Philippe Cousteau Jr. is back for another season of illuminating — if not slightly off-kilter — marine-life discussion.

The grandson of the legendary explorer stars in another run of online videos titled "The Aquatic World with Philippe Cousteau." He discusses the quirky and interesting features and residents of the ocean, like how the Sargasso Sea acts as a nursery for marine life in the Atlantic Ocean in Season 2's first episode (above). The video series, created by Great Big Story, has a serious vibe of Wes Anderson's "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou."

"What's important is adapting to the way people tell stories now," said Cousteau in an interview for Sport Diver's March issue. "I was really interested in doing stuff that is a little bit less earnest and something people might not expect.

"We're very much a tribute to The Life Aquatic, which, in turn, is a tribute to Cousteau. It was probably the second time in my life I've worn a red cap. It was something that meant a lot to me, so I didn't want it to be cheesy or tacky. I felt like that was a way to do it, have fun and laugh at myself a little bit."
