The Indonesian Island of Sulawesi is the world's 11th largest Island and is surrounded by Borneo to the west, the Philippines to the north, Maluku to the east and Flores and Timor to the south. North Sulawesi is one of the 32 provinces in the Republic of Indonesia, with its capital city being Manado. It is located in the northern section of the Island of Sulawesi.
The Sam Ratulangi International Airport in Manado is the main airport in North Sulawesi and offers flights to Hong Kong, Taipei, Thailand, Singapore, Jakarta, Bali, Australia, Japan and the Philippines. The terminal building can accommodate more than 800 total passengers at a time and offers shops, banks and a restaurant.
Travelers from the U.S. can find many international carriers that will fy into Manado itself, or there are many airlines that offer connecting flights in major cities such as Hong Kong, Singapore, Jakarta, Bali and the Philippines where you can fly direct to Manado.
