Before planning a move to any new country, extensive research will make everything go a lot smoother. In Colombia, there is much to consider before taking the plunge to live there permanently. Some parts of the country suffer from internal conflicts, and may pose certain concerns for foreigners. Other areas are more stable, and may offer exactly what you're looking for. On the islands of San Andres and Providence, the climate is tropical, the temperature ranges from 70 to 84 and the diving is spectacular year-round making it a definite possibility on your "living on a Caribbean island" short list. The issue here, though, is the language barrier and understanding government and banking regulations.
