PADI Women's Dive Day: Dive Like a Girl
To celebrate PADI's Women's Dive Day, the female divers who work on Sport Diver and Scuba Diving magazines are sharing some of their favorite moments underwater. Here's to all of the women in diving, especially the trailblazers who dared to explore and those who continue to make significant contributions in the areas of marine conservation, dive medicine, and ocean exploration. Michelle Makmann, Senior Producer, Bonnier Television Group
Michelle shoots both above and below the surface but credits the water world as her favorite job site. When she's not in the studio, she's lugging her massive camera around waiting for the next shot. Craig DietrichPatricia Wuest, Editor-in-Chief, Sport Diver and Scuba Diving
Patricia has been diving for 22 years and started as an editorial assistant on Scuba Diving magazine in 1992, a few months after it launched in June. Becca had the chance to capture some video footage of her recent visit to a coral nursery off St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Since starting as an intern, and subsequently becoming the managing editor of Scuba Diving and Undersea Journal magazines, Ashley has lived and breathed the underwater world — but just from the surface. One dive away from becoming certified, Ashley is eager to learn what it really means to dive like a girl. Laura got certified in 1997 when she was the Online Editor for Scuba Diving; she joined Bonnier in 2004 and headed up digital strategy for multiple magazines. In 2013, she was named Group Publisher. She's traveled extensively, but here she is on one of her favorite dive sites — Bonaire's Town Pier.
Mary Frances Emmons, Deputy Editor, Scuba Diving and Undersea Journal magazines
Scuba Diving's Deputy Editor Mary Frances Emmons loves an adrenaline rush. Mary Frances joined Bonnier in 2009 as features editor of Sport Diver magazine, and prior to that, she held several positions at the Orlando Sentinel. This shot is from a 2010 great white shark cage-diving trip to Gaansbai, South Africa.
