Scuba Diving App: Scuba Hand Signals
Scuba Hand Signals
Version:1.0
Price: $0.99
Platform: iPhone, iPod, iPad
Description: 3D computer-animated dive signals featured in the US Navy Diving Manual, Volume 2.
Pros: Very well laid out app. It is easy to use and has loads of useful knowledge for a new diver learning hand signals or the seasoned diver trying to brush up.
Cons: Only the basic hand signals are animated. Not all of the signals match what’s taught by PADI.
Bottom Line: This is a phonemail tool that allows an Open Water diver to visualize the hand signals most commonly used in diving. The animations are of a high quality: clear, deliberate and slow, so you are able to follow the entire signal and the proper way to articulate it. I did notice after pulling out my PADI dive manual, a few of the signals did not match the information provided, such as the “going up” and “going down” signals, but the developer did state they are from the US Navy Diving Manual.
