Scuba Diving Coral Gardens in Klein Bonaire - Video

The beauty of diving in Bonaire is the unlimited access to incredible dive sites – all on your own schedule. And Buddy Dive Resort makes it effortless to explore more than 70 dive sites accessible by sea and by shore.

The resort has everything a diver needs: multiple rinse stations (including camera-only rinse buckets), a drive through station to pick up air and nitrox tanks, on-site truck rentals, restaurants and so much more.

And while you could spend your entire vacation enjoying the resort amenities and nearby shore dives, some of the best diving in Bonaire is offshore from the mainland. Bonaire Klein Bonaire is tucked away on the west-central coast of Bonaire, just a few minutes by boat from Buddy Dive Resort. The island is virtually uninhabited, and is surrounded by 26 pristine scuba diving sites.

All of Klein’s dive sites are boat-access only, but the scenery beneath the surface is worth splurging for a boat excursion. Sign up for an excursion on one of Buddy Dive’s fleet of spacious boats, which leave in the mornings and afternoons to accommodate any schedule you prefer. As with all diving in Bonaire, boat trips with Buddy Dive are customized to suit your schedule. Divers can sign up for daily morning and afternoon boat excursions, and select whether they’ll have one tank or two.

And once you’re on the boat, you and your group call the shots on which sites to visit. Request Klein as soon as you can, and the friendly and knowledgeable divemasters and boat captains will happily suggest some of their favorite spots on the island.

At any of Klein’s dive sites, you’ll explore candy-colored coral gardens that are brimming with diverse marine life. You’ll be enchanted by damselfish, trunkfish and fairy basslets as they put on a display, but don’t forget to look up every now and then — otherwise, you might miss the sea turtle that’s surfing above you. The dive sites on Klein’s south side are known for their staggering drop-offs and prolific marine diversity, and if you can only dive one site on Klein, make it Captain Don’s Reef. As you fin along the lush reef, bi-colored damselfish dart through brain corals and tube sponges, while spotted eels hide beneath rocky overhangs. And during your hour-long bottom time on this shallow reef, look for a plaque honoring Capt. Don, who dedicated his life to protecting Bonaire’s prolific array of coral reefs.
