Suunto D9
Here's my wish: I want all of my gear integrated, streamlined, unobtrusive, tidy and able to leap small buildings (metaphorically unless it's possible, then heck yeah!) with its inherent capability.
So far, only one item in my garage fits the bill: my Suunto D9 (from Aqualung) dive computer. It looks like a watch that's trendy enough for women to think I'm being hip and fashionable and men to notice and remark upon, which puts that ever-elusive cool factor in my gear swagger. It does all my thinking for me and makes adjustments to my no deco time, based upon a whole host of factors (time at depth, ascent rate, gas, breathing rate, etc.). It's hoseless, which keeps my profile to a minimum in the water, so the fish don't think I'm more of an evil monster than I already appear to them. And it helps me know my place in the world with a digital compass. It's super easy to use too. I can change gas from air to nitrox quickly, check out my accumulated hours underwater, or follow my dive profile minute by minute with a dive profile graph. All of which is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the functionality of this machine. And every time I put it on my wrist, I think: "This is so friggin' cool!" Then I giant stride into my favorite place on Earth and I'm living in a world of fulfilled wishes.
