Top 5 Animals Caught on a GoPro

Pelican learns how to fly
You can mount a GoPro on anything and everything from boards to the back of boats. This lightweight camera allows us to capture a whole new world from a totally different perspective.
Here are our top five GoPro videos of animals either loving being in the spotlight, wanting to steal the spotlight or just down right hungry for the camera.
1. Okay, so, GoPros allow you to get the worm’s view versus the bird’s eye view. Well, what if a GoPro is attached to a bird? Whose view is it now? This video, filmed using a GoPro HD HERO3, captures the uplifting moment of when a pelican named Bigbird learns to fly for the first time. Bigbird was found ashore in Tanzania after a storm by the staff of Greystoke Mahale, one of East Africa’s original safari companies. This video was published by GoPro on Feb. 27, 2014 and has over 3 million views.
2. This video made number two spot on our list. Although titled “Mako shark attacking a PelagicView Dredge,” it looks more like the shark is interested in the fish near the back of the boat. This video was published by davey8128 who wrote, “This was shot out of Ocean City, Md. on the 4th of July on the Pumpin Hard. We were trolling between 6 and 7knots. Also, we were using a GoPro HD HERO3 Black on the 720 120fps setting.” This was published on July 6, 2013 and has received over 2 million views.
3. Man has a second best friend to what some refer to as underwater dogs – seals. Also filmed with the GoPro HD HERO3, scuba diver Jason Neilus gives these friendly seals a belly rub in the Farne Islands, UK. The video was published on April 28, 2014 and also has over 2 million views.
4. One of the most highly photogenic sea creatures, dolphins appear to have a natural smile in photographs and love to be playing in a boat’s waves. Mark Peters and his friends encounter an unexpected surprise of seeing Pacific White Sided Dolphins while albacore fishing off the coast of Santa Cruz, Calif. They just wanted to hitch a ride behind their fishing boat. This video, published on Aug. 21, 2012 and filmed using a GoPro HD HERO2, has just under a million views and has been featured on GoPro’s TV commercial.
5. Dancing with whales. It seems so surreal, but that’s what appears to be happening in this short film of divers swimming or “dancing” with three humpback and siren whales. It was shot by GoPro with its GoPro HD HERO3. It was published on Sept. 26, 2013 and has over a million views.
