Dive into the magic of underwater photography and filmmaking at the Golden State Theatre on the evening of September 10, 2011. Go behind the scenes with underwater filmmakers from Canon Explorers of Light, the BBC, and National Geographic, as well as independent filmmakers, as they share clips and images of their life below the waves. Film festival entry is included in the Monterey Shootout full-weekend registration fee. Film festival only tickets are available for $5 in advance or $10 at the door.

The Monterey Shootout will be held September 9-11, 2011. During the three-day event, scuba divers from all over the United States will converge on Monterey, California and compete for top prizes in one of the most unique underwater photo contests in the United States.

The contest is open for underwater imaging and filmmaking for the first 32-hours of the competition. Underwater photographers and videographers of all experience levels are welcome. Free demo underwater photography gear will be available. All digital photos and videos must be taken while diving during the 32-hour period, along the Monterey coastline. The judging panel, comprised of world-renowned professional underwater photographers and filmmakers, will select the winners on Sunday, September 11, 2011 after which the winners will be announced and prizes awarded.
