The bucket-list destination of the Bahamas is one of those rare places that offers it all to divers. Come for shallow coral reefs teeming with color and marine life, dramatic continental shelf walls and big animal encounters around places like Bimini, Grand Bahama and beyond.

The best dive resort for accessing the ocean’s biggest wonders from a comfortable setting ashore is Neal Watson’s Bimini Scuba Center, on site at the Bimini Big Game Club near Alice Town in North Bimini.

Bimini is home to friendly Atlantic spotted dolphins that seek out human interaction year-round, but summer offers the best chance to experience them in calm waters.

Adventures for all types of divers await here in Bimini’s gin-clear waters. From November through April, head offshore on Great Hammerhead Safaris to encounter the elusive giants during thrilling dives in just 20 feet of water. For Bimini day divers, two-tank trips to reefs and wrecks like the SS Sapona–a cargo steamer that ran aground during a hurricane in 1926 – might bring you face to face with turtles, eagle rays, pods of Atlantic spotted dolphins and sharks.

Neal Watson’s Bimini Scuba Center also delivers the thrills from Freeport on nearby Grand Bahama Island during Tiger Beach Expeditions. Day trips to one of the ocean’s most legendary dive sites put you in the water with enormous tiger sharks for a major dose of adrenalin. Two-tank dives at Tiger Beach often include sightings of hammerheads, reef sharks and lemons sharks, too – all in less than 30 feet of water.

And don’t miss expeditions from Cat Island to dive with another bucket list Bahamian predator during blue water Oceanic Whitetip Safaris.

If you dream it, you bet you can dive it here.

Conch salad is a Bahamian specialty found everywhere from Nassau and Freeport to Abaco and Bimini that’s made from pounded fresh island conch, citrus juice, diced vegetables - sometimes even diced fruit is added to the mix. One of the favorite places to sample it among locals in Bimini is at Stuart’s Conch Salad Stand in Bailey Town on North Bimini, where it’s always prepared fresh before your eyes and dished up with sparkling water views.
