Getting our hands on the latest and greatest dive gear is definitely a perk to the job at Scuba Diving Magazine. This month, we had the opportunity to use and review a new BCD from Atomic Aquatics, the FinClip and a mask case from Innovative Scuba Concepts that is both protective and floats. Check out our first-look at these new gear items below.

ATOMIC AQUATICS BC2

Atomic’s BC1 jacket created a stir with its spare-no-expense design—and its performance. Now back-inflation fans can play too, with the new BC2 changing the way we think about rear-bag design. Some elements are straight from the BC1, including the rugged, water-shedding double-coated textiles, ratcheting Cam-Lok tank band and integrated weights that lock into place with the assured click of a luxury-car glove box. But the BC2 packages them in a harness that emphasizes comfort, control and a streamlined profile.

FINCLIP

Inspired by ski-boot bindings, this clever device allows for easy, hands-free fin donning and doffing—simply insert your foot and press down firmly with your heel. For removal you can use the opposite foot to pop the latch. Finclip can mount to any open-heel fin and uses an array of adjustments, including a sliding foot plate and different-size bungee straps and side-buckles to fine-tune the fit.

INNOVATIVE SCUBA CONCEPTS PRO MOUNT MASK CASE

This case is a great option for traveling divers—it mimics the shape of a mask, so it doesn’t take up unnecessary space, and the durable construction is protective yet lighter than a typical plastic mask box. It comes with a convenient clip so that you can secure the case to the outside of your dive bag, and it floats, even with a mask inside.
