A hidden gem located on the Nature's Coast of Florida and the Gulf of Mexico, our beautiful 50-year-old eco-friendly and green luxury resort hotel's surrounded by the natural springs of Kings Bay. This bay, in Crystal River, is one of the largest aquifers in the state and home to more than 400 West Indian Manatees that migrate each year to the warmth of the springs.
We sit on 232 acres of lush preserve land with emerald greens and grand oaks, and house hundreds of birds and wildlife that include: Osprey, Sandhill Cranes, Blue Heron, Red-Bellied Warbler, Yellow-Bellied Warbler, Neotropic Cormorant, Great Egret, Eagles and Grey-Horned Owls to mention a few.
Snorkeling, Diving & Manatee Tours:
Come Swim with the Manatees on Crystal River - If they were any closer, they would need room keys! Unlike other areas of Florida, the Federal Government allows for "passive interaction" between manatees and people in Kings Bay and surrounding area. This allows the ability to go face-to-face and gently touch and stroke manatees with just one hand, providing the manatee approaches you. We provide pre-tour education to our guests on passive interaction and how to best experience your swim, snorkel or dive experience manatee tour, also available as a hotel package including accommodations and breakfast with your Florida manatee tour.
Fishing:
When it comes to fishing and boating in Florida, there is no better place to serve as your base of operations than the Plantation on Crystal River! Including hooking you up with some of the area's best charter captains for fishing, manatee tours, birding or just to enjoy one of our renowned sunsets from the water. Our marina & dive shop has all of the latest equipment, plus we have our own boat ramp, trailer storage and more than 1,600 feet of sea wall for tie-up right outside your room.
