OMS ReefStream Fins: ScubaLab Best Buy
We tested the OMS ReefStream fin as part of our 2019 ScubaLab fin test. With admirable performance at a below-average price, it was our Best Buy for fins. We tested the ReefStream at Alexander Springs in Central Florida, where test divers rated it in 12 different categories including efficiency, power, acceleration and comfort. Divers rated the ReefStream very good for flutter kick, but also found it more than capable of other kicking styles such as frog and dolphin kick. Thanks to its springy side-rails, the fin scored well enough for power vs. stress, although some testers found the blade too soft, with only so-so acceleration. “Doesn’t have much oomph,” one diver observed.
The large sculpted foot pocket is comfortable and makes for easy donning — helped by a finger loop on the adjustable strap. Easy-to-reach quick-release buckles make removing the fin a swift and painless procedure. This fin isn’t for all divers — especially those who often battle stiff currents — but for tropical divers who often frequent calmer conditions, this fin’s performance and below-average price make it an attractive option. The OMS ReefStream was our Best Buy for fins.
