We encountered a Caribbean reef octopus during a night dive in Roatan, Honduras. Check out the octopus in action in the following video.

During a night dive at Black Rock on the west end of Roatan we encountered this Caribbean reef octopus. It patiently waited while each scuba diver took their share of pictures and videos. It maneuvered across the reef with a grace that seems to defy explanation. Brown splotches appeared and disappeared on its skin in the blink of an eye. As I watched, its copper-green skin transformed into a shockingly bright turquoise as if by magic. It is always fascinating just how alien the creatures under the sea can be. The irony is not lost on me that in this instance, I was the strange visitor descending from the world above.
